Creative Scope

The exhibitor format Pure Editions showcases premium design at the imm cologne – and permits a glimpse at the attitudes and characteristics behind it.

How do attitudes and characteristics influence the design process and lead to new solutions in the design? This is one of the main questions addressed by Pure Editions, the platform for visionary interior and furniture concepts at the imm cologne. As an extension of the Pure segment, Pure Editions doesn't just provide an exclusive setting for the presentation of premium design – the exhibitors involved are given the opportunity to make a creative statement as well.

An open presentation format
Because the individually designed stands in Hall 3.2 remain visually open and accessible, Pure Editions gives manufacturers and planning professionals plenty of space for exchange and inspiration. At the coming imm cologne from 13th to 19th January 2014, numerous renowned design brands such as Thonet, Vitra, e15, horgenglarus, Gubi, Muuto, nanimarquina or Zeitraum will be showing their new furniture and interior design solutions here. The focus is on conceptual presentations in which visionary design and ambitious brands are seen as equal players in the design process.

Experimental level
The exclusive and gallery-like character of Pure Editions is enhanced by an additional, experimental level: the Featured Editions exhibition format. Scenographies by Pure Editions exhibitors – selected by online platform Stylepark – are displayed on various podiums spread throughout the hall. The installations are specially designed in addition to the trade fair stand and must feature content with a thematic focus – although there are no limitations whatsoever in terms of creative scope. The Featured Editions owe their special signature to the collaboration between the respective exhibitor and a designer, architect, artist or graphic designer.

New connections
At this year's premiere of Pure Editions, the Featured Editions presented a fascinating mix of different installations that opened up new connections – independently of the respective manufacturer's usual trade show presentation. Starting from different perspectives, products were interpreted in new ways or placed in an unusual context, sometimes totally unconnected to any specific purpose. Playful experiments with form were juxtaposed with architectural or distinctly artistic approaches. It is precisely the diversity of the design interpretations and the focal points chosen by the exhibitors that constitute the attractiveness of Pure Editions and the Featured Editions. They give visitors an additional and in-depth insight, allowing the design process, the product and the brand to be perceived in new contexts.
